Description: The 5538-DM is an External Taper Gauge for measuring the taper on API casing and Line Pipe in sizes from 178mm~355mm OD, featuring interchangeable Tungsten Carbide contacts which allow it to be used on various thread types. It is one of the original style External Taper Gauges that feature an extended arm length, 177mm on this model, and a robust frame. In addition, the centrally mounted indicator and engraved scale make these classic style Taper Gauges very rugged and will be an extremely reliable tool for many, many years.
The dial indicators have a travel of either 1/2″ or 1″, graduated in 0.001″ increments, with a required API accuracy of 0.001″ over their entire range. The metric dial has graduations of 0.01mm and complete compliance to API specifications through the 25mm range. It also accepts the complete range of Allen Contact Points.
All taper gauges are furnished with 2 Allen Ball Points, a certificate of compliance to API specifications and a fitted box.
