Hardbanding Solutions by Postle Industries is proud to go to an extensive level to qualify and approve hardbanding applicators so they may purchase and apply Duraband®NC or Tuffband®NC. In order to pursue continuous improvement, we have reevaluated our program to insure it offers the “best in class” certification program within our industry.
We require individual certifications for each welder of a hardbanding company that will be applying our products.
We also require company certifications for each hardbanding location. Additionally, we offer certifications for different procedures such as hardbanding tubing, Coolbanding™, etc. Feel free to ask a Postle
Representative or one of our fine Technical Centers about these additional certifications.
All of our certifications have a 3 year term and recertification is required after the 3 year term has expired.
Individual Certifications:
Postle is committed to personally observing each individual welder as they perform the task of welding our
products. If the hardbanding process can’t be witnessed personally by Postle or one of our Technical Centers, the
certification can take place virtually utilizing video, photographic verification, and/or written documentation.
Company Certifications:
For company certifications, we continue to have 3 levels.
Level I
• This is the basic certification that meets the minimum requirements of our qualification process. This validates that a company has the capabilities of applying Duraband on a drill pipe tool joint.
• A PQR must be completed to document the welding process and parameters.
Level II
• This moves the certification process a little further along by requiring that the applicator prove they have capabilities of welding over a pre-existing hardband.
• PQR and WPS records must be completed and submitted that adequately document the welding procedure
• The tool joint that was welded with the accompanying documentation must be sent to Postle’s development laboratory for analysis and destructive evaluation.
Level III
• Our highest level of certification is Level III and requires the applicator show proficiency in removal of the hardband area, repair of the hardbanding area with a buildup wire followed by hardbanding.
• PQR and WPS records must be completed and submitted that adequately document the procedures for removal, repair, and replacement of the hardband.
• The tool joint that had the hardband area removed and repaired then hardbanded, with the accompanying PQR must be sent to Postle’s development laboratory for analysis and destructive evaluation.
